Hey yall!!
So, this is my latest project:
A little while back, I was given a shipping crate made up of thin-wall tubing, which I used
some of to make this fire-pit. Truth be told, the whole time I've been welding, I don't think
I've ever made anything out of small tube, so that made things a little more interesting. I
welded it up with my Hobart 187 and some .030 Lincoln L-56 Superarc wire. The welds are
nothing special, a lot of which I attribute to me not getting that sheet metal as clean as I
should have, but hey, its a fire-pit
I wanted to challenge myself to build this entirely out of what I had laying around. I made
the top and the "floor" out of 1/8" sheet metal that was leftover from my BBQ/Smoker
build, the mesh was left from the BBQ before that one, the pipe legs were extras from my
community service park bench build, and the only things I had to buy were a pair of weld
on hinges, and later on, a piece of wood to complete the handle.
I made the top in two pyrmid shapes, which was fun to figure out and lay out (never done
that before either), and overall, Im happy with how it came out.
When I started this project, I wanted to make this to sell it, but now, IDK. Since Im sure
you can buy these cheaply from the big box stores, I might be better off holding on to it,
and giving it as a gift at some point. Who knows... What do you all think it would go for?
Anyway, here are a few pictures and a couple videos, hope everyone's having a good
weekend, and that you enjoy them
