Never tore into the brakes. The JD friction modifier was in a small pint bottle at the parts dept. Just add it to the trans fluid. Did not have chain guards.

Ok - good deal. I will do that when I change all the fluids.

I may have done them some good - I went out and "slam braked" them a couple times. They sounds better already. Maybe they need some cleaning off.

Out at my hunting place there i all kinds of nasty stuff like rocks, etc. I think I will fabricate some plates to go under those chain openings. The rest of the bottom looks pretty well protected.

I tried riding the brakes trying to wear them in and stop the noise. I was at the JD dealer getting oil filters and mentioned the problem to the shop foreman. He reached over and handed me a bottle of the friction modifier. I added it to the trans fluid and the problem was almost instantly improved. No more noise and the brakes worked much better. Depending on how worn your brakes are it may not be as effective. Still worth a try.

My friend just bought a new horse farm and with the deal he got the property's 1435 front cut mower and a 6x4 Gator like this. He called me day before yesterday and said that his Gator was not running well and then quit. When asked what might have done this he said that he did his first fill up with diesel of his machines. He filled up his 1435 with fresh diesel and mowed a little with it, then he filled up his 6x4 Gator with diesel and it quit running after 30 seconds. He thought Kawasaki made a better diesel than that..........

I wonder what all they have to do. Clean the gas tank, carb out...fuel pump, etc?

Drain everything, put gas in it. It'll run. Might have to remove and clean the spark plugs if they're wet with diesel.
Happened to my car, when the delivery truck put diesel in the wrong tank and then I filled up with diesel instead of premium. Took about 30 seconds before it knocked and rattled and sounded awful and I immediately knew what happened. They hauled it away and drained everything and it was fine.
