Know there has been several threads about these lately so thought I'd show my new 5' J&I Manufacturing Maintainer. Have only got to use it once. Think I need to adjust the top link back some so the front blade does not cut as deep as it did. I live on very sandy soil, so it cuts too easy, loosing more than I wanted it to. If anyone has a suggestion I'd like to hear it.

Is the depth of the blade cut not adjustable?

No they aren't, but My guess is I had the front adjusted down too far and it caused the front blade to dig in more than I wanted it to.

Are the blade holes low enough that you could drill holes higher to raise the blades? With sandy soil I don't think that you would need the blades lower than 1/4". You could adjust the toplink to raise it as well.

Nice unit
I would try tipping it back by lengthening the top link like you said. Should make a big difference. Those nice searated blades are aggressive. Wish I had them. Besides what RD said you could also add a layer to the bottom of the skids to in effect raise the blades.

Excellent piece of equipment. I purchased a 7 ft unit and it had done wonders on my gravel drive.
