Well, here's my new toy. Of course don't let my wife know that. As far as she knows this is a serious piece of equipment, absolutely necessary for moving snow, loam and big rocks!!! It looks so good I have moved my car out of the barn and for now am parking the tractor inside. The camry is now parked the field beside the Chevy PU.

Looks great - and yes, the tractor was the most expensive vehicle we have now - so it also moved the car out and occupied our garage as well. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Beautiful Rig. Came very close to getting the L3400 myself and look forward to posts from you describing how you like it.

Yes, I plan to do a lot of "work" with it this weekend. And will get some more photos to post. I have put some pretty good ruts in our lawn already so I have to be careful where I take it. Those AG tires really chew things up.

It's a beauty..such a nice color of orange too. By the way, did you get a tooth bar and did you find out the actual weight of that toy...er..I mean serious piece of equipment? I know you had concerns about those things. Congrats on the new tractor. I know you will enjoy it.

Hi Mike, yes I did find out the weight. 2,600 for the tractor (2,568 without fluids) 895 for the FEL and 400 for the loaded rear tires so I'm very close to 4,000 lbs. Have not purchased the tooth bar yet but I definately plan to. It has not been that easy digging up those juniper bushes with just the cutting edge on the bucket. Unless I put a lot of downward pressure on the bucket, which digs up a big chunk of field, the bucket tends to flatten out the bush and then slide along the roots. So I am sure the teeth can get in-between the roots and tear the bush out. I will have to check those posts again to see where is the best place to purchase one. Unless you remember. I forget who posted those photos but it looked like a breeze to install and the bar looked pretty rugged. Here a picture of about 25 barrels I dug out of the ground that it would have been handy to have the tooth bar. These are 1/2 of 35-55 gal drums set in the ground around plants way back when my land was a working farm.

Here is my tooth bar, which I just installed yesterday. Plan on using it today or tomorrow. Got it from http://markhamwelding.com/. It is a nice, heavy, sturdy bar and they custom make the bar to fit your bucket. My bar cost $215 plus shipping, which was $70 (freight collect) and I picked it up at the trucking terminal. I had them put an extra tooth on for my needs, but I think the standard number is 7 teeth. From the time I ordered till the time I had it installed was only 5 days. Measure the inside width of your bucket, 8" back from the front cutting edge. It was easy to install, and can be removed in a matter of minutes. Lots of info in the several post around TBN...good luck.

Thanks Frank that is good to know. I was kind of kicking myself for not going with the industrial tires. But now i believe you are correct, a 4,000 lb tractor in soft soil is going to do damage no matter the tire.
