My \"new\" sprayer!

I was planning on building a sprayer after seeing all the great ideas on this site. I called my friend up yesterday to ask him about it. I knew he had a tow-behind unit he was trying to get rid of a few years back and I thought I could use some of the parts to get started. He told me he had one for a 3-point and I could have it! It’s a little neglected but the price was right and it gives me something to start with.

I’m not sure what the purpose is of this long line. The line comes from a tee to a ball valve mounted to a plate, through a couple of elbows and then back to the “manifold”. Any ideas?

Here is the pump that is on the unit. It’s a Hypro Roller Pump model N7100. It’s in pretty rough shape and it doesn’t turn. Can these be rebuilt? I figure I’ve saved myself a bunch of money so if it isn’t worth it I don’t mind buying one.

My friend gave me an extra pump as well. It looks to be in better shape but I can’t find a part number. It has “Central Tractor Parts Co.” on the face. This pump does not turn either but at least the PTO adapter on this one works.

This photo here shows the booms (such as they are). There are some missing nozzles but I pulled one of them off and they are marked “Spraying Systems Co.” around the perimeter and “Tee Jet 8006” on the face. Again, I haven’t searched yet, but does anyone have any info on them?

This has me baffled. The line from the bottom of the tank goes into this (extremely rusty) canister, and the line coming out of it goes to the manifold. Was this some sort of filter? I don’t recall seeing anything like that on any of the sprayers I’ve seen here; is it needed?
I know I’ve dumped a bunch of questions here but I appreciate any help you can give me to get this thing running.
My goal is to be able to use a hand gun or a boom set-up. Thanks!

Both pumps seem to be roller pumps, I enjoy rebuilding them, all the parts are available at TSC or likely local dealers. Take the pumps apart, clean everything with a steel brush and put new bearings and seals in. Put back together with new rollers and gaskets and either will serve you well for many years. Have fun with your project.

Any suggestion as to which one I should use? The spare one appears to be in better shape, but the Hypro (I'm thinking) is more likely to have parts available... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
