Well.....I don't need it...but I bought it.

I drove by the local rental company a couple of weeks and they were selling their 2000 JD 4700 (Powereverser) with 460 FEL and 48 Backhoe with 2500 hours on it. They were asking $16K. So I looked at it and said to myself, 'self, isn't one tractor enough'. Then we had a big snow storm last weekend and Jimmy, my poor little 755, just wasn't up for the job because of the amount of snow and the rain that came after the 12 inches of snow. So I looked again. I have been searching for the last couple of years for #7 Backhoe for Jimmy with no luck.

I stopped by my local JD dealer and asked what it was worth and the dealer told me 17K without the backhoe. So I went and drove it around. I waited a couple of days. I wasn't going to do it....I swear to God, I wasn't going to buy it. Then the other half bought herself a new Mercedes-Benz..So I called them up and offered them 13K. We settled on 14,500.

So now I have two tractors. Neither of which I really need except for snow work...But she has the new car..I have my new tractor.

It is cosmetically in pretty rough shape. Mechanically she runs pretty well. I think every peice of plasitic is broken. So I am looking at this as my little fixer up project. I will post some pictures shortly to show how I am progressing.

All the Best

Don

Welcome to TBN Don:D

I have heard horror stories about rental units, hopefully you will have good luck with yours. It sounds like you paid a fair price for it, especially with the 48 hoe on it.

Well I promise to post some pictures. In the next couple of days.

I have started to fix up my new "baby". She has lots of little "problems". Mostly from being in the rental market.

First of all she has been overgreased to the point where you can't touch the tractor without coming out covered in grease. So I spent on day just cleaning all joints out a and regreasing them up.

The loader had lots of slop in it. The quick attach plates as well as the connecting rod between the two plates were all bent. one of the plates was broken. So I replaced both plates and the rod and all of the slop has disappeared. I still have to so some work on the mounts where the loader attaches to the tractor as the guide pins and slots have been worn down.

I ordered the 3rd SCV from the dealer last night. I will put that in this weekend. If the price is right I will add 4th and 5th too.

Almost every piece of plastic has to be replaced as all the interconnect points have been broken.

The lights aren't working...Maybe this weekend too.

All in all it has been great fun working on it.

Why buy a bigger lot of course.

Big boy's toys.....

Actually I bought it because I needed a backhoe and couldn't find one for my 755.

That is big, but I am using my 4310 on a 2.25 acre lot, with slopes, trees, and 1+ acre of grass:rolleyes:

Did I mention i like overkill?

got some plans to accomplish - patio, sprinkler system, flower mounds, but after that mowin' and snow plowin. wherever it is inconvenient to mow, "eye vill der-stroi":D

Looks like you have a high volume front bucket. Other than that it looks good for the hours (missing a pin on the ROPS and seat cover on the BH).

Looks like you did alright.....enjoy on that 3/4 acre.

Ordered the Pin today...Next investment is a new seat for the BH.

Found the 4th and 5th SCV..I will add that this weekend.

Searching for a smaller bucket..But we get alot of snow so the big bucket should be find...

My local dealer has a snowplow for it, but he wants too much money for it.

Have fun fixing all the broken stuff..

I replaced some parts on the loader and it removed lots of slop in it..

All good
