My new truck

Attached is a picture of my new pickup, a 2005 Tacoma access cab, 4 cylinder, 5 spd. Best news was I got it for only $10,500 with my 1996 Tacoma as tradein. It was a 1 owner with 45,000 on it. Dealer had replaced all 4 tires, ground all the metal parts of the wheel brakes and serviced the engine. Not a scratch or ding on it.

Nice truck. I got a 1995.5 Taco too. Was yours bought back under the frame recall? My frame is still good, darn it

. Although the newer trucks are nice , i kinda wish Toyota kept the body around the same size as i like the compact size of my Tacoma. Tundra > large, Taco > small.

I wish they'd kept them the same size as my 1996. I have to open the doors on this one like I used to on my Ford Ranger to wash the roof. It's both taller and wider. The 1996 gave me 27.4 mpg over the 90k miles (60k to 153k, still with original clutch, pads and shoes) I owned it. It actually used 30 mpg on a 900 mile trip up from Baton Rouge doing about 80 mph, passing everything in sight. That "hemmi head" engine likes to rev and seems to get more efficient the faster it goes, to make up for the higher drag while going fast. Don't think this one is going to give the same mileage, despite having the same 26 mpg highway EPA value.

My wife says this new one is a "dream" to drive. Whereas, the 1996 was kind of "agricultural" until it was cruising along in the 70s and 80s. People who say 4 cylinder vehicles aren't highway cars don't have good sense.
