BobCat CT230
Guys I recently brought a used cutter for my new tractor a BobCat CT230 I figured I could use it to learn what I can and cannot do with it before plopping down a grand or beter on a new one. My question is it was used down in a rocky part of Texas(Waco) kinda of nicked up the blades. I took the blades off to sharpen for this years cutting and was just reading the owners manual and its telling me to tourque the blade pin bolts to 450/lbs-ft that seems kinda strange since I actually do own a set of tourque wrenches 3/8"(80lbs) 1/2"(150) 3/4"(230) and my
1/2" impact gun only goes to around 200lbs so what the #$% do I need also it does not have a locknut cap with cotter pin like a wheel bearing it only has a split washer=size of nut is a 1-11/16. Any input would be nice Do any of you tourque it down like that and if so how. also can I just change the pin and nut for one that has some sort of lock. Thanks

Use RED lockTite.. requires heat to release,

You should be fine with 200 lb. torque along with red lockTite.

Thanks I thought about locktite but since it says to use Neverseize on the threads just wasnt sure I wanted to take a chance on something that spins that fast at me or shiny new tractor. I am kinda new to tractors and just never dealt with these things(RotaryCutter) before. I am pretty much a do it your self person. I figure by the time I pay someone I could by the tool I need, get it done cheaper and learn something I didnt know before. Guess I am taking a ride to Northern wonder if they will have another 10% for a Memorial Day sale helps cover the tax.

I'm in the midst of rebuilding a Howse, and my blade pins/bolts were held on by nature's locktite (rust) quite solidly. Decided it was easier to destroy the nuts once I found that the square shoulder on the bolt had rusted away. Anyway, the replacement bolts use castle nuts and pins, rather than high-torque and lock nuts like the originals. You might be able to find a new style bolt setup for your Woods, too.
