Tractor
Nortrac 254
I purchased a Nortrac 254 . I read all the specs on the tractor /loader and they suited my needs . When I recived the 254 it had some minor electrical problems(not that big of a deal)

When I engauge and disengauge the clutch it made a loud high pitch noise. (big deal to me)( had to have the tractor fixed myself, I waited 6 weeks for them to pick it up)

The loader specs I was sold were 5ft bucket (I got a 4ft bucket) Lift cap 940lbs( I got 575lbs) Breakaway cap 1815(I got 1565lbs) Max lift height 8ft 5 in (I got 6 ft 4 in) Clearance w/bucket dumped 6 ft 7 in ( I got 5 ft 1/2 in) Digging depth 5 in ( I got 2.25 in) Bucket cyinder size 2 in ( I got 1-1/2 in) Lift cylinder size 2 in ( I got 1-1/2 in)
I think this is a big differance in loaders am I wrong ??
They said they would ship me a 60 " buckett on Dec 19, 2005 but have not !!

Nortrac after many emails, phone calls and 2 1/2 months they said I could return the 254 but by then I had allready had the big repair done and a lot of $$$ in it
I have only put 9 hrs on the tractor so far and my warranty is up in May 2006
I think I have been sh*t on by Nortrac, tell me you think !!

I would return it and look for a local tractor dealer that can let you test drive the tractor and provide better support.

Cut your losses.

very unfortunate, they should make it right. It doesn't do them any good to be blasted on the boards. A lot of people read this. I just bought a new TS354C from Chip. I'm haveing a few minor issues with the tractor and he is helping me to get them resolved. I expected a few bugs along the way so I am not surprised. so far it hasn't been anything that has kept me from using the tractor and that's the main thing.
Good luck.

PBinNa said it best Cut your losses now and get a refund. If you do that, the worst case is maybe $500 or $900 loss or whatever you have spent. If you keep it or get a replacement, you will most likely not get great service after the warranty runs out. You could then be on the hook for full price for parts and labor for the next set of problems. You have 9 hours. You have no clue what the next 91 hours might bring before the second service time.

Yep, that sounds like the short end of the stick. But, my Nortrac experience has been good. The specs you state are the same as my 204 model. Interesting. I guess I would keep in touch with them and I would think they will send you that 60 inch setup.

Well, Nortrac called me last week. Said I was saying negative things! (guess they read the posts here)I told them I was stating facts and they should step up and make things right. They said they wanted to resolve this matter, Well I have been waiting 5 months for them to step up and make things right. I think its about time they really did so. (have not had a reply back yet)

I am not the type of person that is overly picky or bitchy, but I do want what I was sold, I paid good money for this tractor my money did not need to be fixed nor was it 2/3 of what the price was when it got there!

I will keep the forum updated

Tell them it's free advertising for them...they can make it as good or as bad as they want.

This is one reason I didn't buy Nortrac, a Farm Pro dealer (western PA)who does repairs for Nortrac told me their service stinks. He has had one of their dozers at his place tied up in a law suit for about 1 year. The guy who bought the dozer doesn't have the machine or his money.
I would get my money back, cut bait and run and buy a tractor off of one of the dealers that post here and other places, Like Chip or Ranch Hand or Tommy at Affordable or Circle G. They are smaller dealers and have a lot more to lose with bad press and they are good guy's in my opinion.
