Oil & Fuel My Oil filler cap siezes up on TC35D

My TC35D (3 cylinder) has a black plastic oil filler cap that is real hard to reach and keeps seizing up or becomes very hard to remove (like I need large water pump pliers) . I always treat the threads with either oil or grease and tighten securely BUT NOT tight and when I go to remove that ***** cap it has really tightened up. Do any other of you guys have this problem and any ideas how to fix it??? Thanx , Frank

Same deal here, have to use rubber strap wrench to loosen. Maybe engine vibs cause it? The hydro filters, also.

When you tighten it, I'd bet it is warm. When you go to remove it, it's probably cool (or just the opposite). Difference in temperature is probably the problem. Even so, mine is tight but I've always been able to get it open normally. I know that oil or grease is the the easiest to use, but you might use some anti-sieze compound on the threads. Plastic to plastic threads are the worst.

I have a similar symptom on a motorcycle, not as bad but it is noticeably tighter after I've ridden it than I torque it to. I'll try checking cold vs hot, I don't want to dab anti-seize around it, but will if it gets much more annoying.

My oil caps don't do that but if they did I would just fold over a piece of sand paper and reduce their size very slightly. Use the folded edge or a piece of emery cord to clean up the threads. I'll also bet you put the cap in a little tighter than you think.
