I want to build my own fire pit in my back yard, but I'm new at all this, and not exactly sure where to start. so if anyone out there would like to help I would greatly appreciate any and all information.
everyone calls me bj, and yes I'm a woman have 4 grown children and find myself with things that I would like to do I should say learn to do . I'm sure it will be by trial and error but that's ok I can do it with enough thought and ideas from all of you. Don't want anything fancy just nice and simple a basic fire pit I really like the one with the tractor rim. so thanks for the help.

Welcome to the site BJ.
A large-ish wheel works well. Can be partially buried or set on top of the ground. Mine is 12-18" chunks of limestone on top of the ground staged tightly next to each other. Fits the setting and is easily rearranged when ashes need to be hauled out. Good Luck!

Are you looking for formal (fancy) cut stone or precast concrete pavers... Our fire pit is just a small dug out (about a foot deep 4 foot round hole in the ground) lined with flat rock on the bottom and a ring (surrounded) with big and small rocks from around our property. This is NOT fancy or formal.

Do you have rocks on your property? Are you looking to cook with it or just have fires?b

Welcome to the forum!

I'm going to move this thread on over to our landscaping section. :tractor:

If you can't find a tractor rim, go to a "big truck" tire shop and tell them what your looking for.
A bunch of rocks will do also. IMO there's little difference between a "little fire" and a "fire pit" other than the fire pit defines the size and provides a place to rest your stick that holds the precious flame kissed hot dog or marshmallow. Pic of our "keyhole" firepit with cooking grate.
Show us what you come up with:thumbsup:

My wife and I built one a couple of years ago. Bought the firepit from Titan Metals. Stones came from Lowes. Used landscape glue to hold the rocks together.
