My Place

I got the bug to get my own dirt. My best friend has 150 acres west of Houston. I have going there like family for 8 + years. I am talking about a family member that works.

So I had to get my own place and found what is the perfect little place for my Sweetheart and me.

It is a little over 28 raw acres, just outside of Madisonville TX. It is about a 2 hours drive It has about 13-15 acres of pretty thick woods, a nice hay meadow, and an old mud hole. I closed the eng of August.

So here is my journey...

Here is the basic plot

After closing I talked my neighbot to cut an entry. He refused to take any money... but did take $100 + a case of beer

Had to get somewhere to stay so bought an older travel trailer.

No much but the AC, shower and john work. Built a litte deck out of 4 pallets and two pieces of treated plywood. Also bought a 40 ft high boy ocean container. No picture of that. Still working off a generator.. Electric is another story..

Still have to get 40 foot of 18 inch culver pipe. The county installs that for no labor. But they did use a whole lot of road base. So next was the entry gate. Gotta keep the honest folks out. Got it mostly finished in 2 days. I am going to add 10 feet more so I can pull in or out with my 20 foot trailer and not be in the middle of the road.

So many things to do....

Next I decided to have to mud hole worked on before it started raining.

Amazing what about 30 hours on a D5 will do.

We got 1 inch of rain about 1 week ago today... Got there Friday and still had this.

I think that is about 1 foot of water I think this is good.

Well Archery Season opens in two weeks...

Had to hire the kid next door to help

But got it done in two days

I have a circle clearing toward to back..

This looks good to me..

Got this done last weekend

This one is 6x8 and I will built it into a full blind for next year It is on the north side of the clearing.

This one is 6x6 on the south side of the clearing

Gotta be able to take a nap in the blind This one shots into adirt bank 125 yards out.

More to follow.. getting the final bid on electric and getting a used double wide in about 3 weeks.. (free) except moving cost.

We finally got some rain at my place.

I must be living right. I put out more seed that morning and finished with the cultipacker in the rain.

The tank is filiin nicely

**** should look good once the rye and other seeds sprout

Food plot looks pretty good... gave it some rye and oats.

Road gets a bit muddy.

One good point is I have lost 15 lbs since I closed!

Hopefully electric this week. Getting tired or the generator. Also a decided to stay in a trailer for the next 1-2 years, so had to get something bigger. it should be here Saturday.
