It started yesterday, ran for 20 seconds and then quit running about ten times.

I changed the air cleaner, added something to remove any water in the diesel fuel

Now i can't even get started

I have 170 hours on it

Should i changed the fuel filter or take it to my dealer and have him do the 200 hour service and get the bottom of this problem

How hard it to do the 200 service, is it something i can do, is there any info on this site on how to do it

any suggestions.................................................

I miss my RTV

Thanks in advanced

If it has been work OK then all of a sudden it quit. I would take it to the dealer and let them do it they got the know how. I got 236 hours on my and i tis an 05 model and I have never had that problem. I did let the dealer do my 200 hr seveice last winter.

Sounds like you need to change the fuel filter even to get it to the dealer unless you want to push it up onto a trailer or have the dealer pick it up. I haven't seen anything here about the 200 hr. service so don't know what is involved, your manual should tell what is involved and it's probably fluid and filter change, maybe pickup screen needs to be cleaned and belts checked. I'll bet you can do it and after you'll be a lot more familiar with your machine.

Tiger,

FIRST, I WOULD CHANGE THE FUEL FILTER. SECOND, SIPHON OR DRAIN ALL THE OLD FUEL OUT & ADD FRESH ....
Take a good look at the filter you remove, inspect it really good, try to pour out what's in it on a paper towel and see what comes out !!!

????? How old is the fuel been sitting in your unit >>>
????? Do you try to keep your tank full, for warm (hot) days & cool nights will make one build up condisation quick, quick , quick !!!
>>>>*****>>>>>> HAVE YOU REMOVED OR CLEANED OUT YOUR SPARK ARRESTOR ** I removed mine and left it off, for after 13 hours on mine, it was trying to clog up. And talk about performance with this thing off. It is the differance between night and day.....

Dont have a heart attack, it's something simple !!!!!:)

***** Who done your first 50 hr. change. If the dealer done it. well, maybe you would want him to do it again, BUT THIS TIME SIT DOWN WITH THEM AND WATCH HOW THEY DO IT !!! That is something my dealer tells everyone he sells them to, let him do the first change, and you watch, and you can do the rest .... Makes Sense >>>>

not getting fuel....either clogged, dirty fuel filter, water in fuel or tank empty. Also, cut off spark arrestor, place in trash.

First of all thank you for the reply's

that is why i enjoy this website so much.

I'm going to replace the fuel filter tomorrow, drain old and put new diesel in.

I try to keep the tank full, the diesel is not that old in the tank,

lost the owners manual

the dealer did the 50 hr service

i have not cleaned or removed the spark arrestor

are there any drawbacks to removing the spark arrestor

if there are no drawbacks on removing it, how do you do remove it

that might be dumb question, but i don't know how (i don't even know where it is)

if i can get it back running, i would try to do the 200 service with the help

from a friend who is more mechanically inclined than myself:eek:

Tell us more. What do you mean by "quit running about ten times".
Did it run for awhile then quit? How long does/will it run?
When it does start (and then quit), what noises (clicks in particular) do you hear before and after it's actually running.
Will it run for 10+ seconds after it's cooled off?
It "almost" sounds like you may have a defective fuel shut-off solenoid.

Spark arrestor is the mesh screen thing covering the end of the tail pipe and you just need to remove the screw to get it off. Then undo the plug on the bottom of the muffler and get any carbon buildup out. Next, screw that plug back in and I would leave the spark arrester off...it is really only needed if you run around on USFS land.

You'll need to prime the engine and bleed the air if you ran it out of diesel. Diesels do not just start right back up like a gasser.

Here's a update

New air filter

New fuel line filter

i took the spark arrestor off

it still will run for about 20 seconds and then the engine will stall

if i put it in gear and try to push the pedal, it stalls

off to the fix it shop it goes:confused:
