My 2004 JD2210 SCV stick has a lot of slop in it- up to 6" or more of pure slop, then several more inches before any motion happens. While I've not hit my hand on the floor-boards while trying to hit "float", I'm coming close.

When I took it apart I found that both pivot pins were well worn, and bone dry.

It'll take $200 worth of parts to buy replacement parts for the warn ones. I don't have a lathe, so can't easily turn them down and bush them.

Got any other ideas?

WOW, that is a lot of wear!

Without a lathe, You might just have to suck it up and get the parts...

Add a brass or copper bushing from an old pipe? I do this sometimes, you can adjust the size by cutting along the flow line.

Well, if you were closer I'd offer to make or repair the parts for you for the price of a Big Red. Surely there's someone near you that can help. If not and you can stand the "shipping time", contact me off line.

Use a mig welder to spot into the groove and file smooth to size with a hand file. Slow, painfully slow, but cheap.

I'm guessing that the wall thickness of a copper pipe may be too much. I have some brass shim material, but I'm afraid that would not wear well- I don't want to do this every year or so.

Thanks Ken- Very generous of you. I'll see what I can do myself first, but if I get desperate I'll drop you a note. Maybe I can include some of our Huckleberries from up here if you are so inclined.

Mig is a good idea- I bought a good welding book, and am about to buy a used Mig, but that's about all the experience I have. So I'm a bit leery of welding on my SCV for a learning experience. :)

Thanks for the ideas-

Looks familiar. In 3000 hours I managed to wear out the linkages on two joy sticks. Mine were replaced with new ones.

If you are doing the repairs yourself I'd suggest going with pin stock made from high grade bolts cut to size and welded in place of the worn ones. for the other pieces cut out and replace with flat stock/solid stock drilled to fit your pins. These new pins do not necessarily have to be the same size as the old ones as you will also be drilling new holes. :D

After all is done wrap the entire section in tube or some other type of flexible casing and fill it all with grease???:D
