My TN\'s got a splitting headache

My fairly new TN75D "Beast" had been dripping a little oil from about the center of the tractor for a few months now. I looked several times and wiped of the machine without any luck in finding the leak. The dealer told me to bring it in when I got a chance. Well LarryRB and I dropped it off last Sunday and I talked to the dealer today. The oil was hydro fluid and was coming from what he called the "cotter pin weep hole". Apparently it's a hole in the casing with a cotterpin in it to let any fluid leaking from the transmission get out. My TN has been split and it is leaking slightly from the front seal on the transmission. It will be fixed and ready next Tuesday. Can't wait to get it back. It's a leak I could easily have lived with, but under warranty better to get it fixed.

Re: My TN\'s got a splitting headache

Good Luck! I had the same leak from the day my TN was delivered. The dealer had to split it four times to find the bent PTO shaft. Call the dealer and make sure they check that PTO shaft, you also want to make sure they check the clutch and starter. The clutch will get oil soaked if the fluid runs up the shaft and NH will replace it under warranty. My starter went out because it received a good dose of oil, NH replaced it, also. It doesn't take much oil, my leak only spotted the driveway once after I ran the tractor hard after it set up last winter. Good Luck!

Well I can sympathize - I've been without my tractor all week. It's 50 hr service is taking a bit more than 50 hours to complete... you watch - as soon as we both get them back the Rain Gods will bless us with yet another 2" of rain, dirt-dousing, mud making, tire slipping goo.

Good Luck with it - and I agree, get all the kinks and leaks out while it's under warranty... just imagine what that little leak would have ended up costing you otherwise.

Take Care,

My TN65 had the same problem from the first day I got it, dealer fixed it under warranty, my new TN 70 seems tight so far.

My TN named Beast by my sons is coming home tomorrow. It's amazing what they found. Somebody forgot to put in an O ring behind the input shaft seal in the transmission. A lot of work to fix. Only thing left for them to do is recharge AC that had to be discharged. Hopefully we can get it back to work tomorrow afternoon. I'm having withdrawal.
