Tractor
Bobcat CT230 & John Deere X324
My son was using the tractor yesterday and it just stalled. Now it won't start. He was just driving it down the driveway and bam. Tractor clicks but won't turn over. I checked the pto switch, all the fuses, tank is full. Maybe a bad seat switch? Any ideas?

Thanks

I can't tell you why it stalled but if the tractor is clicking and not starting I would start with cleaning the battery cables and the ground going to the frame.

So where would I jumper it out? at the connector under the seat? Would I just have to make a jumper wire to connect the two wire ends together. My dealer called me back this morning and suggested it was the hydro pedal switch on the bottom side of the tractor but that would not explain why it stalled.

Wallace, I checked all the cable connections last night and they are tight and still showroom clean.

I'll take a look at it when I get home from work.

If you are hearing clicking, see if that is solenoid clicking. If it is, seat switch will have no effect.

Tight is not necessary the problem...It is corrosion. Take them loose and clean them, also take the ground bolt out of the frame and clean the frame also.
If you say your tractor is making a clicking sound it will more than likely not be the safety switches. The safety switches not working will not allow anything to happen. You will not get that clicking sound.

you can just make a jumper, i had a similar issue that it wouldnt start it was dirt film on the hydro pedal switch, but i wouldnt think that would make it die while in use, mine was from washing it and then the dirt drying on the switch overnight, the seat switch is the only one im aware of that will stop the tractor once its underway.

I never had an issue with my CT230 stalling but I have had an issue with it clicking a few times. It always happened when I shut it off, it just wouldn't start up again. It says not to try to start the tractor by jumping the solenoid but when you are out in the middle of nowhere, you are willing to try anything. It worked and I was able to get home both times.
