3550 Fard Backhoe and a 1948 Farmall Cub,
I had a minute from the shop today and thought yall might like to see some pictures of my shop. I work there on the weekends and evenings, and when i get laid odd like i am now. These are a few pictures of my pattern burner and my lathe. In the pattern burner picture im cutting a wedge off a 2 inch thick plate of steel. The wedge is the point to a rippers for a D7 Cat that is subsoiling a pasture to collect water this winter. I cut the circle out the day before to make a bearing seat for a freind's work barge. It was 12.250 inches across. You'll notice the pattern it followed is on the cutter table.
This machine will cut up to ten inches thick but Ive only cut 5 inch material. In the lathe photo Im cutting a bushing to go into a backoes upper swing pin.

I've had similar problems recently. That's why I asked about it. I didn't know if MY 'puter was acting up again!

Good pics. Very interesting! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Ive always welded in short pants and usually no gloves. A few times some lucky little bugger will find its way to the sole of my foot but after being a welder 10 years and welding on some things that are hard to move around in you get used to it. I worked for a company that made you wear polyester uniforms that made the spark super heat before it ran down your leg or back. That pattern burner never throws alot of sparks most go straight down into my slag barrel.

Golfgar4, my computer shut own earlier as i was posting when i restarted it i had to delete the history to go back to the discussion board and restart it all over lol.
Ive been buying metal working equipment since i was 14. Im 23 now and still buying. Im waiting to hear from a friend if i my bid went through for a 25000 pound radial arm drill press with a 4 inch bit capacity. and a 10 foot reach. My shop equipment list is a long one. I have 3 stick welders in the shop, one portable Miller unit on a truck the pattern torch, and 2 other torches, 2 lathes, 3 drill presses 2 wire welders 110 and 220,a chopsaw and a porta band and an old power hacksaw. and numerous home built tools.
I remebered when i first started my shop in a 20 by 20 shed and had to pour a floor at the folks that tried to crowd me out. Now i have the biggest lathe in the county and the only pattern torch with the big capacity an the big shops now have to pay the piper. Sometimes i wished id have never even picked up a welder but it is a nice feeling to see a trailer you built goin down the road or see an attachment youve made making someone happy.
