Hello TBN Folks,

Just bought a new B7800 with backhoe and FEL... thanks to everyone for the great information on this site! I got to move about 20 yards of dirt this weekend and it is performing wonderfully. I did realize, however, that some work lights would be a welcome addition.

After reading about worklight additions to tractors on TBN I was prepared to splice and dice a solution when I noticed on the fuse box there is a 20A circuit already there labeled "Worklight". I couldn't follow the wires out of the fuse box very well but did find coming out of the wire loom behind the seat a black wire with a round end that looks appropriate for grounding to something and a red wire with a plug-in splice type of end, both nicely taped to the wire loom.

Could it be that Kubota has kindly pre-wired a worklight circuit that is ready to go? I see nothing about it in the Operators Manual other than a single reference to the worklight circuit in the section on fuses with no elaboration on what it is for, and there is no mention of the black/red wire pair taped to the wire loom behind the seat. Has anyone done anything with these wires and if so is it truly a pre-wired 20A circuit I can use for the worklights?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Steve

Congrats on the new equipment. Yes the wire that you found behind the seat is for an auxillery cercut. I used mine for work lights. It works great. This wire is live any time the key is on. I hooked up a switch so I could operate the lights at will. You do not want to go wild with the amount of lights because your charging system will not keep up. To run high power or alot of lights you will want to install an altinator, I believe there are kits you can buy to cange over.
Good luck with the ne machine.

Yep, I used that circuit on my B2710 to run to a 3-way toggle switch; center position was "off", forward was the trapezoid light I mounted on the front of my canopy, and backward was the worklight I mounted on the rear of my canopy.

That is great, thanks for the speedy responses! I especially like the three-way switch idea... though I estimate that if I ran four 5oW lights (two front, two back) I would be drawing about 18A. Given the circuit is setup with a 20A fuse do you think I would be safe?

Thanks again!!!
