The OP said: "It is definitely metric and I don't have a metric thread gauge."

With all the discussion and only one pic I missed what the head markings are, if ever actually reported.

OP's last post was #11. We've all been just guessing with no more that the one pic in post #4.

Myabe he did leave. :confused3:

OP should not only look for a missing bolt on his tractor, he should check all the bolts to make sure they are tight.. seems more than one person has had loose bolts.

Someone should head over to his place and scatter a few more miscellaneous bolts on his driveway. At least one British Whitworth for good measure.

Now that sounds like fun.......

As someone who has a set of Whitworth sockets (due to a hydraulic pump that had of Whitworth and SAE bolts), that would be entertaining.

Wouldnt an English-Metric set cover Whitworth with small enuf gaps?

Those '60s Brit bikes were full of Whitworth stuff. Wrench openings were non-standard, and it seems like everything was 26 TPI from 1/4" (rocker boxes) to >1" axles. It's not like everyone doesn't have 21/32" and 25/32" spanners. :)

btw, drill bits come in 'number' and 'letter' sizes, providing < 1/2" increments finer than in 64ths. .003" - .004" size steps and without a quality sharpen most any one you grab will drill that much o'size, esp in a hand-held chuck. ;)

I was given some open end wrenches. I found that they had been ground oversize. Someone must have worked on Whitworth stuff.

I bet the OP is sleeping under the tractor at this point. Looking at every square inch of your equipment can wear a guy out.
