Mystery Spring Thing on a 5555 Mahindra

As viewed from under the right floorboard
and back toward the left rear wheel.
It is just hanging straight down and has a bare end.
Noticed it when I was checking our broken parking brake,
but that has a different spring which is still there.

I've seen that type of spring on brake light switches. Do your brake lights work? If not, that's why.
