Just my 2 cents but I would trust a NAPA/Wix filter about as far as I could throw it, maybe not even that far. Over the last couple of years I have had more problems with their poorly constructed filters than anything else I can think of. Poor seals, NO threads in the filter head or poor threads in the filter head. I'll stick with Fleetguard or Donaldson.

I was just trying to inform members who purchase filters there that all of them are on sale, if you had a problem i am sure we can find other folks who have problems with other brands. All companies make mistakes foul ups on there products, and by the way not affiliated with napa just passing along good info.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not dumping on you, just WIX who makes NAPA's filters. I was just saying their quality has gone down the drain in the past few years and that there are much better filters on the market for the same money.

Anywhere you can go to get a 'cross-fit' for JD Parts is going to save you a ton of coin! Bearings, Filters, etc. Don't get me wrong, I've been 'True Green' since '72! But they really get you on parts, maintainance and otherwise! I needed a ball for the 3PH lift arm. $12- on the 'net', $32-, at the dealer!! ~Scotty

Thank you Bruce, Just shows someone is always reading posts! I saved a boat load on there filter sale a few years ago... bought enough to get me threw till well, now! The local napa dealer here has yet to sell me a lemon filter. The way they stand behind other products, I have no doubt they would exchange/refund a filter. I have found especially on air filters, they seem almost a better product than o.e.m. Thats my two cents:D

Thats interesting, I have never used Wix logo filters but was always under the impression they where top notch. I do use Napa, (didn't know they were one in the same) but haven't had any problems.

If you look on some of the NAPA box's they actually say WIX on them in small print somewhere. Also the part numbers are the same with the NAPA filter using the last 4 digit's. If the Wix number was let's say 43358 the NAPA number is 3358.

As for the "lemon" filters, they are not all lemon's but it only takes a couple in a year to tick me off when I'm out on a jobsite servicing someones tractor/trailer and find that the threads are only half cut in the filter head and have to drive 15+ miles back to the store to get another one and another 15+ miles back to the job. Time is money and I ain't making money if I'm driving back and forth to get a replacement filter.

I would estimate that in the last 3 years I have had about 20 filters I have had to get replaced that were WIX/NAPA. I have never had that problem with Donaldson or Fleetguard filters and have used probably in the thousands of their filters over the years.

Interesting thread... yes... NAPA filters are made by WIX. After a lot of internet research about 4 years ago, I was convinced that WIX filters were among the best out there (the same research showed FRAM to be about the worst, and prior to hearing that I thought they had a good reputation). At any rate, has WIX gone downhill that much in the last few years?... I haven't seen a problem with the ones I use, primarily on Kohler and Kawasaki air cooled engines. Is there a good source for reasonably priced Donaldson filters?... I'm not familiar with fleetguard.

Fleetguard is owned by Cummins and can be purchased at any International truck dealership and many fleet shops, Ryder Fleet Products Ryder Fleet Products - Starting Page sells them online.

I get my Fleetguard filters at the International dealership I use to work at and I get Donaldson filters from a local fleet maintenance distributor. I think Donaldson has a retailer search on their website like Fleetguard does.
