Tires Narrower tires on 5105m

Some relatives of mine just purchased a 5105m tractor to use in there raspberry fields. To fit down the rows properly we need it narrower than the rear fenders. We installed 9.5-24 goodyear duratorques for front wheels. Jd says to install 14.9-28 on rear. Did that and it dropped the drawbar 6 inches. Which was too much. Talked to salesman and he said we could install 14.9-30 on the rears which would be same rolling circumferance as 16.9- 28 which is a drawbar height we like. Recieved and mounted 14.9-30 tires and it raises the drawbar only 2 inches. And when measured to the 16.9-28 is the inches shorter. Can anyone explain how this works and what size tire will give us the same height as a 16.9-28.

How narrow do you want to go? I have 12.4R42s on my 5420 and 5310 with 11.2R24s on the front.

You should be running at least 30-38's on that tractor. Tell your dealer to install the 38 Firestone radials on your tractor.

Id like to stay with a 14.9 width it fits nicely under the fender. How tall is your tires the 14.9-30s were about 53 inches tall and the 16.9-28s were about 57.

I would say get 15.5R38s or something like 14.9R34/38 but I'm not sure if 14.9R34 or R38 is a common size.
