I say we go to a national sales tax and do away with the IRS.
If you buy a loaf of bread or a Corvette, you pay the same % tax regardless.
You would not and should not have to pay taxes on your savings accounts or any stocks you sold. You only get taxed when you spend your money(This would really encourage saving money). The outlaws, illegal immigrants, foreign tourists would have to pay taxes the same as the average American Citizen, when ever they buy something they pay a national sales tax.
You would not need any federal taxes taken out of your paycheck.
Any bonuses and overtime etc would not be subject to the excessive taxes/penaltys that are applied now that are only worse when you make more money.
The goverment would not have to worry about tax cheats as much.
I also would like to see the property taxes done away with, you should not have to pay taxes on your own home,if a person wanted to stay on there land and mind there own business, they should not owe anyone anything as far as taxes go and not have to worry about there land being sold by the state because they did not pay there taxes.

Ok i'll bite.At what percent. Here in bama we pay an average of 8% on the dollar.Would it go to 10% or 20%?On stocks and bonds they would be coverd by the buyer and seller recpectivly. You pay it when you bought em and the next guy pays em when they buy from you....I could live with that if ain't to high...
No property tax...I could live with that, don't you already pay tax on the land when you close the deal...?
More likely they would start the sales tax and decide they need to keep both....

I do not know what percent it would take.
Here in WVA we pay the taxes yearly on the value of the property,no sales tax on the property when it is sold.

Hey guys... Whoa - you're asking the Government to simplify our lives and take away some of the power of Government.

The "other" arguments arise:

- lawyers
- accountants
- tax planners
- U.S. Treasury (IRS employees)
- State tax systems based on Federal forms
- the list goes on.....

Are you nuts - Why would you want to make our lives simple? /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Sounds good.

As to an amount, I've always believed if 10% is good enough for God, it's more than enough for the government.
