- JD 5115M; JD 110 TLB; JD 4720; Ford 9N; JD X300R
Let me say up front that JD can decide to build and price whatever they believe the market will bear. And consumers can choose to buy or not buy those products.
That said, I just reviewed the test data on the Nebraska testing site for the new JD 5000R series machines.
Concisely... I don稚 see the 途eal world farming application benefits of the R series over the M machines that warrants a purchase price difference of $25,000 or more! (Really - this is NOT a debate between the E platform versus the M machines.)
I must be missing something here in the calculus of evaluating a decision to 澱uy or not buy?.. besides the increased depreciation schedule!
Engine - another 7-8hp - give or take over a similar rated M with the IPM system and 25 ft.lbs. of torque. But, that will cost you another .25 gal per hour.
Cab noise is nearly identical. Improved visibility with the new glass, though. Better lighting with the LED package.
Hydraulics. Higher flow rate to the 540R loader which is rated less than the H310. And, 8,800 lbs. on the 3pt? Come on... who in their right mind is gonna hang a 4.5 ton implement off the back of a tractor with an 88.6 inch wheelbase?? Not happening..
Transmission. 4 speed power-shift with auto range shift would be impressive versus the 2 speed high-low on the M. Especially with long distances between fields and larger acreages.
Cab and tractor suspension. Mandatory - IMO - if you?*e gonna work that powershift across the field and down the road. (Better buy the loader nitrogen-suspension system, too!)
So, where痴 the rest of that $25,000 hiding? What痴 missing from this picture?
