Need a brake from the rough stop

I see a lot of post from people that are unhappy with the way a Kubota RTV jerks to a stop. I realize that your drivers education coach may not agree with what I have to say, but if you use your left foot on the brake before you take your foot all of the way off of the gas pedal, I think you will find a much smoother stop. You will still need to feather the gas pedal down until the last 1mph or so, then lightly apply the hand brake or foot brake until you have completely stopped, then let off of the gas pedal completely.
Try it, it works well for me at least 80% of the time.

You are right with your statement .... Heck, if they don't want the engine brake on thier RTV, all they have to do is go to the dealer and in just minutes, they can disconnect it. Just that simple.

But, myself, I just love the engine brake !!!! Yes, it took some simple practice, but now, I don't even think about stopping. Just does it smoothly and automaticly !!! I really don't even use my real brake at all !!! Now, when I take it out, and got to stop, it just glides in...
no bump, jerking, or nothing like it was when I first purchased it !

I think mine is getting smoother also. I have about 120 trouble free hours on mine, and it seems like it gets better and smoother every day. It is only that last 1 mph that sometime gives me a jerk. Use the brakes, and it is no problem at all.

Engine brake? I thought it is the hydro transmission that stops it so quick.

I myself, just calling it what the dealer called it. But really , I don't know if it is the engine or tranny. But, when I will find out, I will post ~~~~~~~~

Interesting article there, Two Guns.

I don't have an RTV, so can anyone tell me how the drive system is set up? Do they have drive motors for each wheel? Or a single motor to turn a rear axle? Is there any sort of differential to allow different wheel speeds as needed?

It has a VHT, fully Hydrostatic transmission, like on alot of modern tractors, & heavy equipment has.

The RTV, is the only one that has the FULLY hydrostatic transmission in the Utilty Vehicle Line >>>> That's why they are so tuff. I have hydrostatic in my tractors, bull dozers, farm machinery, skidders, and alot of other heavy equipment. Can't beat 'em .

I love the braking action of the hydro. It is especially helpful when going down greasy clay hills in the woods. In 4wd it provides braking effect to the front wheels so you can turn and "brake" at the same time by lifting off the HST pedal. Wouldn't want it any other way.
