I've searched, fairly fruitless.
Right now I'm pulling a stump. Before I've pulled cars and my Ford Diesel Maxi-van.
I've got one of those $40 HF specials rated at 3,000lbs.
All I can find in my area are other HF style low quality mfg. pullers.

I don't want an electric winch that will haul the Washington Monument to the moon.
But I'd like to have something manual that could crank 5 ton and be built strong enough that I can plan my son can pass it down to his grandson. (I've a bunch of tools my Grandfather passed to me which are destined for future generations.)

Any links?

The link above says it will pull 6ton (line doubled), or lift overhead 3 ton.

I have American Power Pull a quality piece that is built in the U.S. and I was able to buy it close to home for next to nothing.

I have been stuck on two stumps so far this year and was stuck in the mud once. Each time I needed a good portable puller...and it took me hours to get free.

I just ordered a More Power Puller (two ton) from Wyeth-Scott. I have owned the cheapies....and I want a good one that wont fall apart and has a reasonable length of line pull. Thanks for reminding me.

Try looking at the more power puller at The Wyeth-Scott Co. - portable winches | cable puller | come along winches. I have one of these that I use for cutting down trees and getting my F150 unstuck. They are made of ductile iron. They are not rated to pull 10k pounds but you can make up the difference with proper rigging.
Thanks Hillfarmer, one 3 ton on order. Hopefully my heirs will raise thanks to you many decades from now.

/edit - and for those of you looking for something new they have a rope called Amsteel Blue which is supposed to be as strong as aircraft cable.

WOW!

I am glad that I didn't just buy that JET brand lever chain hoist I had my eye on, although for my use that may be a better option (more controllable).

Well, due to necessity I also bought the HF $26 special. Stamped metal, really inexpensive construction. I've got it pulling on a stump right now. Good enough to throw in the truck, probably not good enough for posterity.

I apologize a little for "getting on a soap box", but there will always be a need for "simple tools", levers, manual saws, rope, etc. Some tools reach a maximum level and plateau (the 5 lb sledge) and a good one can be passed down for generations (oil the handle).

Right now the grinder I use to sharpen lawnmower blades and big knives is a system cobbled together by my grandfather based on a 1926 refrigerator motor. It WORKS. A few squirts of oil annually.

To me there is a satisfying essence wrapping my hands around a tool my Grandfather first used 70 years ago, and I use today.

I have my grandfather's cross-cut saw and use it often, along with a few simple hand tools and a Rockwell radial arm saw that is rarely used.
