JD 4410
I am out of town, away from my owner's manual and have been dreaming up a project. Before I let the plan go much farther, I need to check a specification. What is the rated 3pt lift capacity of the 4410? I looked on JD's site, but the 4410 is finally gone from the CUT line-up. The 3320 is rated to 2200 lbs 24 inches behind the arms. I'm guessing the 4410 is close to that, which would put me really, really close to maxing out the system with my idea. You guys could save me from dreaming about this all weekend while I am supposed to be working. If the rating is under 2200, I'll scrap the idea and start daydreaming about something else. If it is 2300 or better, I have a pretty nifty idea to modify a piece of gear I have not been fully utilizing recently.

With that in mind, if it is really close (need to lift 2350 pounds), what will happen? Does a hydraulic over-pressure valve kick in -- like on the loader? Any of you 4410 (or 4310) guys ever picked up close to 2500 pounds with your 3 point? Is my 430 FEL going to be enough ballast, or will I need to fill the bucket, too?

If this works, I promise pictures.

Thanks. That's soooo close to what I need. Anyone have any idea how much of a "fudge factor" is built in here?

Jeff, a lot depends on what you are lifting. Will you be on sturdy ground, or likely to bounce or sink? Is the load stable, or will it rock side to side? Is it a compact load, putting its weight close up, or does the weight hang back, putting more strain by leverage?

The transaxle housing seems to be its worst when a heavy load gets to bouncing against the horizontal stabilizers.

Still about 34" behind in our rain, hope you get some!

We got some Thursday, finally.

Here's what I am trying to pick up.

JLG Man Lift

I just need to get it clear of the ground so that I can take it in the field. We use it in our warehouse, and when I had my Bobcat, I would pick it up by the fork pockets and use it to trim trees. I sold my Bobcat a few months ago, and the 4410 FEL won't pick it up. I thought about getting a 3 pt fork attachment, but then thought that I might just drill some holes in the base (where the fork pockets are) and put in some Cat 1 pins and then weld a frame on it for the top link. It's center of gravity is very low, and I would never move it with the mast extended, or elevate the mast without lowering it to the ground. I don't see any safety issues, as long as the 3 point can handle the 2325 pounds. The way I am envisioning it, the center of the weight would be less than 24 inches behind the arms.
