Tractor
1987 ford 2910
was wondering if I got a good deal. I put 1500.00 down on a 1987 ford model 2910. The tractor is beautiful. It has a rops on it. It has 1650 hours on it . Tires are a little dry rotted but they have a lot of thread. It comes with no attachments. The only problem that I found is that the power steering assist pump is dry. I owe another 1500.00 when I go pick it up, tomorrow. You don't see too many 2910's on the internet. Do you think 3000.00 is a good deal ? I own a tree service and would like to get a front end loader for the front. Thanks for any help. T.P. Tree. P. S. The old buck that is selling the ford well I guess his dad had a farm and they used the tractor with a brush hog to do the fields. Don't know where the hog went.

Welcome to the forum. If it's really clean, sounds good to me. 2WD is the only drawback. Tires are expensive might get a few hundred knocked off for that. I could have bought a 4wd 50 hp Massey for $2500 last year, but that was in November and here in TX.

You did nothing wrong except not wait long enough for answers. I think everyone here works at least one job (farming, ranching, etc) and probably 2 like me, so sometimes it takes a while to get responses. I'm assuming you test drove the machine and checked the hydraulics? Since there's no attachment on the back raise the arms, turn the engine off and stand on the arms to see if they drift down or not. They should stay up. You should also at least see if the PTO engages.

Solid tractor. Should be good at that price. would sell for around $5000 in my area.

I paid that much for a 1967 Ford 2000 the other day and it needs all four tires. You don't get much for $3000 so if it runs and suits your needs I think you'll make money on it.

Sounds like a solid deal to me. It's a no-lose as long as it doesn't have big hidden issues. (sounds like you checked it out)
