I was told that the 410 loader is no longer available and has been repalced with a new model. Is the new model ggod, i should I try and find a leftover 410? The dealer quoted me $2500 for the loader.

I don't know anything about loaders, and not much about tractors in general. Is there anything else I should get with it?
Do I need a ballast box?

I don't have any rear mounted attachments, just the mmm and snowthrower.

Which loader is it for $3500. Is that new? If so that price might be very good.

Rear ballast will be desired and safer when using a 4100. You might be suprised how much better it performs with the rear ballast. The loader manual will state the recommended rear ballast weight amount for your tractor.

Many people make their own ballast and deere sells a one that attaches just fine, is IMatch compatable, but is kinda pricey. Many people opt to just mount a boxblade to the rear and use it for rear ballast. It costs about double but has much more purpose than just the weight box. Besides the cost of the rear ballast box you also have to pay for weight (unless you have some laying around).

The JD quick attach loaders are very nice. Many are self standing and go on and off in about 2 minutes or less. The quick attach buckets are also nice and new implements can be made to attach to the loader arms if you are handy with a welder.

Good luck.

The new 200cx loader should fit your tractor, it replaced the 410 loader on the 4010, 4110, and 4115 model tractors.

$2500.00 sounds about right.

Yes, you need a ballest box or another implement that weighs 500-800lbs.

Good luck finding a leftover 410 loader, but if you do, then go for it!

Kennyd hit the nail on the head.......I have the JD ballast box loaded with concrete and the loader "stalls out" (for the lack of a better term) before the tractor is getting light in the rear-end /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Though JD recommends loaded tires AND a ballast box (see a thread back in the sands of time that discusses this), I find the ballast box more than sufficient. I did not load my tires, as part of my land gets mushy in the spring and I wanted to be able to remove the weight......good luck /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I have the 410 loader on my 4010 with the tires loaded. The 4010 is almost identical weight and configuration to the 4100. With the loader full of gravel (approx. 1,000 #), it needs at least 300# on the 3 pt to keep a rear wheel from tipping up.

Ballast boxes are nice and compact such that you don't have to worry as much about backing into things (like closed garage doors). I don't have one but use either my soil ripper or LX4 mounted on the 3 pt when doing really heavy front end work but also have a carryall that I could add some weight to. For snow work, I plan to just have my back blade (160#) on the 3 pt. Most times, the snow will be light, and I'll be mostly using the back blade on the snow.

I'd think that you'd need something on the back with your front end snow thrower, for when it's lifted up. Bet it's pretty heavy. The one I had on my Gravely was beastly heavy.
