my propane refridgerator sized 42 gal trianglephase3 went out...it supplys house water as well as water for the radiant floor heating...i see theres tons of these out there but all very different...stainless steel core, recirculating units, just wondering if anyone has one of these...quiet would be the first thing i,d be looking for then very efficient, finaly we have lots of power outages, should i install a 40 gal propane hot water heater and a tankless system for the floor heating?

I have a Navien natural gas tankless hot water system that also provides the hot water for my baseboard heating system. I love it. The system is very quiet, uses outside air for combustion so you aren't sucking in air that is already heated and it is very efficient.

If you have a small generator you can run your heating system during power outages.

the older "n" series i was told had some issues..theres the ne ch180,210 and 240....thought these units were known to be noisey..how old is yours?what model? or btu?

I think mine is a CH210 rated at 175,000 BTU
I am actually on my second unit, it is interesting that you ask about noise. The first unit that I had was kind of loud and it made sort of a whistling sound but I thought that was normal. After about a year and a half the unit died, it burned a hole in the heat exchanger outlet. There was no leakage into the house because internal sensors shut it down.
My HVAC contractor replaced the whole unit with a brand new one at no charge and the new one is a lot quieter than the old one so I think the original one was defective
Original one was installed Nov 2011
New one installed May 2013

My grandpa in NY is running a Bosch, but I know he also has solar panels that do the majority of the heating. Last time I went to visit he seemed rather impressed with it and had no complaints. I know this doesn't help at all, but I thought I'd throw it in there.

I really like the Navien. I think it is over 90% efficient but I can't compare the cost of operation with other gas units because I converted my house from oil heat to gas heat. All I can tell you is that I am glad I did the conversion, gas heat is waaaay cheaper than oil.
