Well.....I screwed up royally!
Just got a call from the dealer and the great deal I got basically boat me a boat anchor. After a compression test they found one of the cylinders to be dead and combining that with the rest of the issues ends up being an estimated $8k-$10k fix according to them. Obviously putting the money into this tractor would not be the right move and I am not aware of anyone in my area that does work like this on the side. If you know of anyone in the Akron, Ohio area, I am all ears otherwise I am weighing options and just learned a costly lesson!

Ouch. I feel for ya. Seems like everything I look at or get into on my "good deal" tractor is broken one way or another. Check with the local farms and see who does their work. Sometimes it's worth it for the time savings for them to have someone else do it

No one but myself to blame!
So I found a small shop that services farm equipment and the owner is looking into a remanufactured engine thinking it may be far less than tearing apart. machining and rebuilding. So, while I am awaiting pricing I figured I would toss it out there to you guys to see if you had any feel for what it might cost to get a reman purchased and installed?
Obviously this would only be one hurdle as I would still need to get the hydro issues resolved and the gauge issue.

Thanks and that is my hope to. At this point just trying to minimize my loss and take away from this a lesson hard learned. In the end if this is the worst decision I make in life then I am just fine with that!
I did go to 2 different dealers yesterday and each said they would give me about $3k for it on trade but then I am turning around and buying a new tractor plus taking a hit on this one. In hindsight, new is what I should have done to begin with because I will end up spending far more now.

Good luck with it!

Side observation.. That is not a huge amount of hours, someone abused the snot out of it!

So I took the tractor to a farm mechanic who formerly worked for a dealer and he gave me the following news:
1) Was able to get the gauges fixed. Wiring was all messed up.
2) Replace steering motor
3) Overhaul engine
4) Replace hydro pump
5) Replace oil pump
6) Rebuild fuel pump as it leaks

All total $5500 on the high side and likely less.

I am thinking I might as well go ahead and put the money into it as I will still be money ahead and basically have a new tractor when done.
