Kubota L3901 Dst
New owner of Kubota L3901. Tractor only has 20 hours now, it is not the hst version. It seems I can't do much of anything on the high side of the transmission. Even in first gear if you put any amount of pressure on it(pushing snow up a hill) the clutch will squeal. I would not think this is normal. On the low side it seems fine. Any advise , clutch bad? Just need adjusted? Going to call dealer tomorrow, just wanted to know capabilities in high range.

High range is mainly for road transport. It is not intended for doing any sort of work or pushing/pulling. What you are experiencing is normal.

It is geared really low in first high range, I would think it would be capable.

The clutch shouldn't squeal. The geared tractors I have used will kill the engine stone cold dead before the clutch squeals. The old L2550 could break traction in 5th the equivalent of your high 1st gear. I could run up a pretty steep hill in 7th gear. It lugged the engine, but the clutch never squealed.

That's what I was thinking, I could get the hint of clutch smell when I first got it last fall ,I have never rode the clutch I make sure my foot never rests on the pedal. Hopefully the dealer will make it right.

If that would be the case pulling a finish mower over any acreage at would sure be a sloooow process. Hoping this isn't right. If it is I will be major disappointed

You should be able to run that thing until continuous black smoke comes out the exhaust ( assuming you don't have the emissions crap ) before the clutch slips. The limiting factor should be the mower or lack of engine power not the clutch. You definitely need to have the dealer look at it.

There is something wrong.
1rst or 2nd gear high range are by far the most used gears on any the gear tractors I have had.
I could run them out of power or traction and never have the clutch slip or squeal

Yes, You need to adjust the clutch. As 4570Man stated, it should NOT be doing that.
