Need advice on buying Yanmars

See what Fredricks Imports would do on a trade-in. SC isn't too far from AL. And they have a satellite dealership in GA.

All UTDA machines are overpriced. I am with Cary, I don't see any usa refurbished yanmars at good deals anymore. Best to buy domestic models with warranty. I still pick up a for sale by owner from time to time but even those are getting pricey. I bought my ym226d with loader for $2500 which was a steal. I said this year's ago..you start talking 10k plus for a 30 yr old tractor..buy new domestic.

I recently went UTDA this year for almost 6K refurbished "like new" via Fredricks Importing that has a full 1-yr warranty. I looked at domestic new, but I chocked at $16K with warranty new. I can buy a new vehicle from Nissan, Chrysler, etc with 3/36K warranty that could be used every day with much more features. lol

Since 2008 the small compact utility and regular utility tractor used prices have literally spiked. More people are now homesteading vs. big Ag farms. Thus, the demand is more than the supply. Even the national auction tracking shows this to be true. I had downloaded a document showing 2000 to 2013 prices for these. From 2000 to 2007 is was a slow steady increase. Then in 2008, the chart just spikes upward with no leveling yet. There was a side comment that CUTS are hard to find as a good deal like ammo is to a gun user. It has a similar trend. Likewise, check out the utility trailers for a 6x12 with wooden flooring. The prices in 2008 were $650 new from TSC or Trailer Plus. Today those prices are over $1,200.

I looked at a YM2500 and the owner wanted $9500 with a FEL. It was at the dealer because the motor had been rebuilt, the owner ran it without coolant. Apparently he had replaced the belt and did not tighten it dow properly so the belt rubbed against the hose and wore through. I just feel that is way too much when the LC 30HP+ tractors with FEL are available NEW with full warranty for $5000 more. Granted it is 50% more but it is brand new so I feel the owner want's someone else to pay for his mistake. Apparently he initially wanted $10,500.

The price on that 2500 is just plain crazy. IMO won't get it. I mention who the 2500 was for and was discounted and priced accordingly. That was 4-5 yrs ago and it was only 6200-6300 Ref. with a new LMC.BH.
