Im nearly finished with a 3 pt. receiver hitch. It will have a ball on top to be used for gooseneck trailers. The advice Im seeking is "what distance above the lift arms should the top link be located on my implement. Im supposing it would be best if the implement stayed somewhat level through its up and down cycle. Apparently to do this, one has to follow the trapezoid rule and design the attachment points on the implement to form a trapezoid with the attachment points of the lift arms and top link (where they actually attach to the tractor). Is my thinking correct. If so, My implement will not follow recommended ASAE measurements with reference to vertical distance between attachment points (lift arms and top link) Is this ok? Also, many locals have advised me to "not make the top (where the gooseneck ball is located) too tall" Apparently, many have had to lower the ball as an afterthought after realizing the arms could not be lowered enough to place the ball under a trailer that had just been removed from the bed of a truck.
Any and all advice on this matter welcomed as I would like to finish this project today. thanks,
