Need advice on how to fully replace fluid in the 4530 Hydraulics/Pwr Strg/Transmissio

Hi TBN,
I need to replace all the fluid in the whole shared
Hydraulics/Power Steering/Transmission system.
I am changing over to a multi-function hydraulic
fluid and want it to all be the same fluid through
out. Any suggestions on how to purge the old
fluid without burning the pump up or causing
it to cavitate?

I wouldn't try to purge the system. The original fluid in the system should be compatable with your replacement.

It turns out that I didn't lose nearly as much fluid as I thought.
After replacing the power steering line and checked the level
while running, it was still within acceptable levels, then
bled the air out by cutting the wheels back and forth.

I have seen many of your posts on TBN and very much appreciate
your involvement and advice (with obvious expert knowledge)!

What is the proper way to check the transmission/hydraulic fluid on the 4530? Engine running or stopped? It's not mentioned in the owners manual.

Hi Kbaer,

The transmission dipstick is on the left side near and a little
below the clutch (left side as you are sitting on the tractor).
The dipstick is a grey and about 4 inches long bolt head.

The service manual says to check the level while the tractor
is running. Be sure brush away as much dirt and dust before
removing the dipstick.
