I've owned a Husqvarna DRT700 for a little over a year now, and am having a few problems that need to be addressed. I do not have a local repair person who can fix these problems under warranty, because I live in a rural area and the nearest dealer is 2 hours away.
Problem #1:
My engine 'lopes' or 'surges' when I am tilling. When I start it up it begins 'loping', and surges whenever I try and till. I have close to 20 hours on the tiller now, and the manufacturer said this should have stopped at 10 hours. I called Husqvarna when I first purchased it, and they told me it would stop after 10 hours and that it was due to the engine valve seating. It has not, and they are no help what-so-ever. I have called them three times on this issue only to get brushed off or told to take it to an authorized dealer ... 2 hours away.
Problem #2: The tiller 'nocks' inside the belt housing whenever I am tilling. When the tiller is in neutral or drive w/o tilling it does not do this. I have removed the belt housing, and checked all of the necessary pulleys, tension, etc ... I found nothing wrong. It only does it when I am tilling with the tines turning. It gets louder when I am physically tilling, and it is not as loud when the tines are turning w/o being in the ground.
Please help me if you can.
Thanks.
