It looks like it was originally red with yellow wheels. Looks like the previous owner converted it to a 3pt hitch mount. The wheels turn, the chains move, the plates in the seed hoppers turn, the horizontal shaft going to the fertilizer hoppers turns, but the agitators in the fertilizer hoppers are frozen.

There are double disc openers for the fertilizes drops, but that cross shaft is broken.
  • Any ideas on brand/model?
  • Where to buy seed plates, drop tubes?
  • How would you go about bringing this back to life?

I’m not sure the TBN community has any ideas about the make/model, but I’m pretty sure they have a good idea about your license plate number .

These guys still sell plates and have a helpful website. Maybe you can look at your plates and compare them with what they have. EBay too? In the old days plates would come with your order of seed, so there’s lots laying around the countryside still.

Sorry I don’t know what brand you have, but I suspect unless you find a parts machine, what you have is what you’re gonna get. Hopefully things like drop tubes can be substituted for something off the shelf. You don’t need fertilizer on the planter for a successful crop, so I’d start on making sure the seed side works first.

Thanks. So far, all the shafts turn. The seed plates turn. The fertilizer agitators are froze up. The disc openers for the fertilizer are froze up. I was able to get one fertilizer hopper off.
I'm wondering if it is a McCormick. Red frame and yellow wheels, and there is some blue paint inside the corn hoppers.
