Need advice on mover for 2 acres plus some rough stuff along drivewway

Well it has been a long time since I have had to buy any type mover. I still have an old Toro push mover that I got for trimming and it still works and after 27 years my old John Deere STX 38 still works, but is basically falling apart piece by piece. It owes me nothing so no complaints and it is time to get something new that does not need a re-build and has a larger mower deck than 34" and gives a better cut.

I need some type of new riding mower and have about 2 acres of grass surrounded by woods and a lot of driveway edge that has some grass and weeds that needs cutting from time to time. I do have some hills, but nothing radical. While I can change the oil and clean air filters I am not particularly handy and would like to have dealer backup for service.

Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Big Forest

You mentioned you have some hills.
Do you have any narrow areas to mow through (is there any deck width requirements) ?
Do you have allot of obstacles to mow around ?
Do you have any soft areas of lawn that would required a machine that was not too heavy ?

I have used JD riders for years, but got a JD Zero turn late last year and really like it. We have about 2.25 acre yard and it makes real quick work of a mow. A lot faster than the tractor style. I am sure the better maneuverability is a big factor. Lots of bushes, trees, fence row, along crop field boundary, road banks, etc. Cut the job down to about 60% of the time it took the JD X320 we had before. Same 48" deck size, so that had no bearing on time. Put a hitch on the back and can do anything I was doing before with the X320 like lawn aeration, spraying, etc. Took a little getting used to, as it was our first zero turn, but I wonder now why I never considered one before. Much better traction and stability on road banks. I guess the deck width would be the only major consideration by anyone considering this type.
