The front yard along my driveway is very uneven and makes it difficult and potentially dangerous when I'm trying to have a catch with my son. Plus it looks bad. I've been reading about tools that I could use to lower the high spots and raise the low spots. I don't care about tearing up the lawn in the process. The land is rocky, so I don't want to buy a tool that might be destroyed if it encounters a rock.
The area runs along my driveway for about 200 feet and is only about 30 feet wide until I hit woods. Most of the high spots are farther away from the driveway and the low spots are closer to the driveway.
I'm thinking if I can flatten the high areas with the proper attachment, I can use my loader to move the dirt to the low areas near the driveway without risking getting too close and ripping up the asphalt with something like a box blade.
The tools I've read about include: grader/scraper, back blade, box blade, land plane. I'm not sure of the subtle differences among these, as I'm new to tractors and attachments. It would be nice if I could find other uses for whatever I buy. The only one that seems to have that possibility is the back blade, which I understand can be used to move snow.
I know that I need a heavy implement to dig in and move the high spots, but I probably also can't go with something too wide, just because I'm working in a pretty small area, not a large open field.
I've attached photos. the two trees behind the plywood board are both coming down if that matters. Thanks for any advice on this.

The right tool for the job would probably be a Harley rake (also known as a power rake). It would pull the trash out of the top (like rocks). Problem is they are really expensive and limited to landscape work.

Beyond that, you could attack the area with a combination of a rototiller set on shallow, a box blade and a landscape rake with gauge wheels.

Finish either method with reseeding grass.

I'd opt for a box scraper for it's smaller investment and it's versatility for this job. :) There are so many implements for the tractor when you get into landscaping. All cost $$$$ but like cglaser said a rototiller, box blade and a landscape rake with wheels makes a nice versatile combination of implements for your tractor.

Thanks guys. Wow! You're not kidding about the Harley rake being expensive!
Is a box scraper the same as a box blade?

Yes, box blade and box scraper are often used interchangeably.

You can rent a power rake from MB Tractor in Tilton, NH for appx. $200-$250/day. Probably about an hour away from you.

I'm not sure I'd use a tiller with all that embedded rock. The thing about working rocky soil, is that you turn up even more rocks. That said, I think I would use a box blade with scarifiers to churn things up, and the box blade to smooth and move the dirt around.

Then smooth it out with a Ratchet Rake

I've been leaning towards the box blade but I read a discussion on TBN among people who sound like they are doing exactly what I'm doing-getting rid of high spots and filling in low spots for a smoother yard. Several of them tried a box blade and said that it just bounced along behind the tractor and never dug in, or got clogged by the clumps of grass.
Does this make sense? Before I start shelling out or $700 implements, I want to make sure I know what I'm doing.
Here is the discussion:

Yes, Tilton is a little over an hour away. I may have to consider this option. Thanks!
