Need advice on Woods BH

I recently purchased a 4320 and want to buy a BH for it. I have decided on a Woods BH80X or a BH90X. I would like to go with the 90X for the reach but I am not sure if the tractor can handle it. Has anyone used a 90X on a 4000 series deere or comparable tractor that can give me some advice?

I have had a BH 90X on my JD4720 for the last 4+ years and it handles very well. Get the subframe mount. Do not even consider the three point. I run it with a 18" bucket and it does great.

Forgot to mention I have a manual thumb which is great and I wish I had gone with the hydraulic thumb but the hydraulic option is pricey.

Thanks for the reply. I plan on using a subframe and an 18" bucket also. Do you have any pictures of it mounted on your tractor? I was going to get the mech thumb but everyone says the hyd. is worth the extra money. Guess it depends on how much I would use it.

IMO you will not be disappointed with the unit and other than the price you will not regret the hydraulic thumb. Every time I have to get off and readjust the thumb's pin position when using, I wish I had the hydraulics. I will convince myself at some point to spend the $1300 (approx). I have looked a couple of times at doing an after market mod but have not yet come up with a good solution. If you can get the dealer to kick it in cheaper on the original purchase you will not regret it.

I wondered about the JD 4005. Woods lists both the bh80x and the bh90x as compatible. But the 4005 is lighter than any of the other 4000 series Deeres. The bh80x seems to be a closer match the the weight of the John Deere 8B backhoe.

Here are some photos on my JD 4720 w/ BH-90X. Could not find any with it fully stowed but the one has it almost stowed and then two at different points while in use.
I would definitely have the tires loaded for the weight if you do not already have it so.
Let me know if there is anything more I can help you with on your decision. If you do get the hydraulic thumb option let me know the incremental cost of it from your dealer.

I am not that familiar with the 4005. I am sure either model, if listed as OK by Woods, would work. Hopefully some else will be able to comment on the Woods BH with the JD 4005 but from the pictures I found on line it is a good bit smaller.

Roseel's in Chesterfield, MI quoted me 6200.00 for the 90X with 24" bucket and 1225.00 for the sub-frame.
