Managed to crack rear axel housing on 3400 HST and now need to replace.
1. Can one side only be removed?
2. Other than axel oil seal and housing, any other parts required?
3. Parts list dosn't show gasket and none came with housing?

Any chance of getting photos posted of the crack?? Do you know how you broke it? Did a backhoe crack it or something else??

PS sorry I don't know the answer to your questions

Hit tree limb with rops while mowing (in low range.) Rops bolts to cast iron axel housing and crack is between two upper bolt holes. With advice from TBN think tank I decided against welding crack. Havn't been able to get light right for a useable picture.

One side can be removed without having to remove the other, the fit between axle hsg. and rear end housing uses silicone sealer to form a gasket. seal and hsg. should be all the parts needed.
