Need an Oil dipstick for IH 674 tractor

Like the topic says. My buddy was bush hogging last week and somehow the engine oil dipstick was lost. He believes that he may not have seated it properly after checking the oil level prior to using the tractor. Of course he looked everywhere in the field after realizing the issue but couldn't find it. Probably chewed to bits by the bush hog... Anyone have one that they could send him/me? Or any hints to find one? Thanks, Dutchy

Case/IH still shows it available, but they are pretty proud of it at $135+change U.S. Found a used one here for $35. Part number for it is 3136242R2. https://burkesenterprises.com/ih-484-tractor-parts for $35. Scroll down a ways to see it. Just have to check and see if they still have it. Who knows when they updated their web page last.

You can copy and paste the part number to a search engine, and get quite a few hits, but most I've seen new, are from dealers, and run in the $135- $140 range.

Wow, $135 is a crazy stupid price for a dipstick! I would find a dipstick that fits, next oil change leave out a quart and make a mark...fill it up..a full mark..and go from there. That will keep you going. Keep a watch on ebay etc. for the read deal if you're particular.

You have GOTTA be kidding. A chunk of wire with a rubber bushing on it. I have a metal detector. I'd be out sweeping that field - very closely.
