NEED ASSISTANCE IN REBUILDING ALLIS B

Good morning folks,
I now have my B model COMPLETELY stripped, degreased, ready to paint and put back together. Problem being: I did not take enough pictures when I was dismantling it. Does anyone have a suggestion of the best manual/catelog out there that can give me plenty of pics and descriptions so I can get this little girl back like it is is supposed to be? There are a lot of books out but so many are substandard from what I read on the net and I just need to be pointed in the right direction.

Go to an agco dealer and tell them you want a owners manual and a service manual for an allis B. Probably cost about 40 dollars a piece or so. At least that is what the cost for an allis Chalmers 185. The will probably have to order it for you and the little brown ups truck will deliver it to you door. Mine came neatly packaged and was all there, but had to get a 3 ring binder cause it came in a loose leaf page format. To me, that would be the best place to start. If you need parts, personal message me, I know a couple allis salvage yards that are reasonable.

Many thanks for the reply Phillp W. I believe I have all the parts I need at the moment. I bought two Allis' together, one B and one C. The B had been sitting without the head on it for some years and the motor was completely frozen with rust. Most of the ancillary parts were also gone but the C was pretty much together so I swapped engines and still have some spares for just in case. I appreciate your info and will get with an agco dealer in this area if we have one. I am in the Ft. Smith AR area and we don't have much calling for Allis products down here. Will let you know how this thing turns out. Thanks again.

If you struggling to find a dealer, let me know. I know of one in Nebraska and one in east central kansas that I order stuff from over the phoone. I'm in deere/case-ih country, so agco dealers are hard to find.

Have you tried the "unofficial allis chalmers" ("Persian orange nuts") forum? Unofficial Allis Home Page That is where I hung out when I had a A/C D12) There are a couple of B restore posts currently with lots of pics . These guys can probably answer all your questions about your B.

On that site in the thread titled "Another B (update 22 Jan 18)" on first page of it a ways down user "Gerald J" in his post was kind enough to provide a link to download a scanned pdf version of the "Allis-Chalmers-G-B-C-CA-Service" manual (for free). You might want to download and save it to your computer. Looks like the B and C section start on pdf page 46.
