You need to look up
wroughtn_harv
and txdon
Look in the Projects Forum for a thread by Txdon, he's build a barn using Harvs steel connectors.

I hate to stir up a hornets nest but......I've had a couple of all-metal horse barns over the years and would never do it again. Too much rust and too much trouble making modifications! My new one (16 stalls) has a wood frame with metal skin and it cost about 70% of the bids I got for all-metal. Steel structures are great for hay and equipment but animals exhale too much moisture and in the winter it condensates and causes rust.

I agree with Inspector507. Harvey has come up with a great way to build you own. But if you want a complete bolt up kit, try Mueller, Inc. - Steel Buildings and Metal Roofing
Mine is not a horse barn, but it is a Mueller bolt up kit. 30'x40'x10'

BB_TX, Bill:
I've been needing to build a bigger shop building and didn't know about Mueller until seen your post. You have an impressive looking bldg. (I'm planning a kitchen and bathroom also) The prices on their website didn't look too unreasonable either. I'm looking at 30-40-12 or 30-50-12. If you don't mind...could you give me some insight as to the ease of putting it together; did everything fit; quality of materials; and your overall pros and cons.
Thanks, Ralph

Ralph - I was pleased with Mueller and the resulting building. I had a couple things that did not fit up right. But a phone call to Mueller and they quickly made it right.
As far as ease of putting it up, not bad at all. I had help putting up the frame and putting the roof panels on. Otherwise, I did it all myself. Although it would have been much faster to have had help with the entire process.
The key is to start off with a square slab. I measured and re-measured the forms before they poured the slab.
If you want more info, PM me and I will go into more detail.

I buy all my metal roofing, trim and roll up doors from Mueller with fantastic results. Before I found them, I used a few other companies. One is now out of business and the other wasn't very reliable.

Mostly I build wood frame and put metal on for the roof. Mueller is great for this.

One time another contractor called me and asked me to give him a hand with a metal building kit he was having trouble with. He's built several larger buildings, but this was his first bolt together kit, and it was from Mueller. It was a small garage the I'm guessing was around 20 by 30.

They had bolted up most of it, but had run into trouble with getting it square. The purlins wouldn't line up on the roof. We did a bunch of measuring to find out the problem and after a fewhours realized that the wrong bolt holes had been used. They bolted it up and kept everything loose until it was all together, then tightened them all up. While tightening the bolts, the building went out of square.

It was a one day delay that was caused by rushing along and not paying enough attention to the plans.

This probably wont happen to anybody who buys a new building as the guy who bought the building got a great deal on it as it was an older kit that they had out back. I'm not positive, but I think it was a prototype kit or somthing like that, and they gave him a price he couldn't refuse for it, but I'm a little vague on the details as it was about 3 years ago and just a day job for me.

I'll buy from Mueller over just about anybody else. I'm sure there are other companies as good, but I have no experience with them. Mueller has proven to me they are a quality company.
