The draw bar on my tc33d has a larger hole than I want. I need it reduced to take a 7/8 pin that most of my equipment is. I need something to drop in to reduce size but not fall out. Anyone have a good idea or do they make such a thing?

How about tacking a large washer (7/8 in. inside diameter) or plate to a short piece of pipe or bushing? The washer would keep the bushing/pipe from falling on through, but could be removed if you need the larger hole. (my $.02)

Don't think that I would want it reduced. The way most draw type things are, If the hole isn't oversize the pin will bind up as the implement, trailer etc. tilts to one side or the other. It it binds up it will usually bend the tongue.

Well I dont plan on making it a tight fit. I actually was gonna make it closer to an inch like my other tractor is. I think its around 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 but havent measured it and if you have too much slack then the equipment will thrash alot more and wear out the hole much quicker. I use 7/8 pins and there is no way Im putting it in that large of a hole. The washer on the pipe deal would work but the problem is it can still lift up on the pin if on rough ground. example: the pin is lets say 5 inches long and bushing is 2 inches if the equipment bounces up and takes pin with it then it can stay caught up without falling back down. Ideal thing i guess would be like a heavy washer on a pipe that stuck down through the drawbar a little and put a pin through it underneath or something to that effect. Just looking for ideas. maybe they make something for this?

roto,

My opinion would be to leave it alone. I am sure if New Holland was concerned about it they would have made the hole smaller. As far as wearing it out pre-maturely I really don't think this is a concern. I think by trying to design something to give you what you want is just asking for trouble. Again that is just my opinion.

Roto, I have been around farm equipment for most of my life. I have never seen what you are looking for although it would be easy enough to make. The hole in the drawbar is oversized for a reason. It allows whatever you are pulling to twist without bending the pin or worse the tongue of the implement or your drawbar as you drive the tractor over rolling terrain or through gullys etc..

I know it makes some noise as you go along, but believe me, the noise doesn't cost as much as new parts to replace broken parts. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Anyway, my advice would be to put up with the noise (sorry) and you'll never have any problems from binding that drawbar in something.

Good luck /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well I agree you need slack for movement without twisting but i do think that is too much still. My other tractor has a 1 inch hole and i use a 7/8 pin and that works just fine and i have hauled several attachments(bailers, mowers,rakes,teddars...) with it for years and no problems. I had an attchment once with a 3/4 hold and i had to use a 3/4 pin and boys didnt that make a racket. The more it bangs back in forth the more it wears the hole. I have see them wear oval but it takes a while they are very hard steel. I have pretty flat ground here and the twisting of the implement just isnt a problem for me but may be for others. Anyway, I will figure something out and I think New Holland just make sure its big enough to fit all attachments so no complaints of being too small but i know if I had a 3/4 pin in that hole i would be able to feel the implement(attachment) actuall moving the tractor back in forth whiles it banging to death and that would drive me insane! maybe I already am insane hehe /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I too have been around all types of ag tractors for all my life, and have never heard of this being a problem. I would just leave it alone. You need extra room for flexing, and I doubt a cut tractor will ever outlast it's drawbar.

When I got my '33 about a month ago, I was crawling around under it and noticed that the draw looked to be reversible. I haven't tried it but I looked again when I got home tonite and the other end looks to have a smaller hole in it.
Let us know if it works, I might have to swap mine around when I get something to hook to it. It does look pretty big /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
