Need Chisel Plow Shank - 24" height

My plow is a Bush Hog Brand but I just need a 24" high shank. I can probably make another brand work as long as the shank is a 1"x2" or bigger. The 24" height is proving difficult to find I think most are higher 26" + to clear trash better.

Some brands that appear to have used 24" high shanks:

Bush Hog
Ford 131 or 133
Maybe a Graham Hoeme

I had that problem when I cracked one --badly--and couldn't find a replacement. Instead, a good welding shop guy that knew what he was doing (important) welded it for me. I think he used two or three different rods. I couldn't watch because I knew it was a fool's errand. Anyway, 15 years later I sold the implement and couldn't even remember which shank it was.

Short of that, you can still buy almost any shank new and can get prices from Messick's on-line. It's easy but probably $125. Plan B would be all the tractor boneyards in the upper Midwest. They advertise by machine type and number so that allows a search.

I tried Messick's and the part is obsolete I actually have the part number (I have the original parts manual - part # 25D10365) and they were able to look it up with an obsolete parts dealer? No luck.

I've scoured the Internet with no luck. I plan on calling some bone yards if anyone knows of any that deal with implements and would reply it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm down South and people had all but quit farming down here 30 years ago. Plows like this all went to scrap for the most part.

C shanks for older field cultivators and chisel plows can be difficult once the oem is either gone or no longer offering the parts. There is no standard measurement that was used like there is for s-tines and t-bar's. Really about the only standard there was among mfg was the degree of sweep that was used the norms being 43deg, 47deg, & 51deg. Years ago there was a plethora of tillage options and mfg's that no longer exist today. Modern farming practices have also made it harder as the market for tillage tools is not what it used to be as operations do less and less of it.

Having been to enough farm auctions, I would say there are lots of OEM parts floating around as well as NOS sitting in barns and lots of used shanks laying around. Stuff turns up all the time but not everyone knows what it fits. At farm auctions, they sell for a couple dollars each or not much more.

There is a used parts place somewhere in Texas or Arizona that has lots of stuff. Not sure what kinds of implements but maybe Abilene Machine?
