Need Harv advice for first pipe fence

I'll not be using that system. I am just putting mesh fencing in the bottom.


Update I cut off the tops of the pipes with my Portaband last evening. I was really suprised at how quick and easy it went. That saw is amazing.

This weekend I am hoping to do the notching and weld the top rail on.

We got 2" of rain this week so the burn/welding restrictions are on hold at least for another week.

Well we finished our first line of pipe fence. Here it is.

This is the only line that isn't pretty level so the rest will be easier.
My cutting and welding skills came back as I went along and we got much faster toward the end. I don't think if I waited another 10 years I could this project. I don't know how Harv does it all of the time. Old just sneaks up on you slowly.

First thing Saturday morning, on the second post the oxygen tank regulator blew a diaphram. I was not a happy camper, but the regualtor is 16 years old. Luckily a neighbor had one I could borrow until I can get this one rebuilt.

Now all I have to do is put the field wire on, which we can do any time. Trying to get as much pipe done before a welding ban is put in place.

Anyone have any recomendations for a good long lasting primer and paint for the pipe.

Looks good.

I've got a secret formula that all the oldies here know by heart.

I mix one to one Rustoleum "rusty metal primer" and Rustoleum "leather".

It's a good combination of the benefits of the primer and the UV protectants you get from the finishing color. It's not as glossy as the pure leather color and it's not as dull as the primer by itself.

I use a cup brush on an angle grinder to clean the welds and any hard rust. The light rust is just primer.
