Tractor
Two tractors..both Mitsubishi. MT160D 4WD with a Brush Cutter. The other is a MT1601 4WD with a loader
I just purchased a tractor with an Allied loader. Its equipped with a bucket level indicator rod attached to one of the loader arms. Someone, please tell me where its suppose to mount. Also whats anyones best guess as to where the Hyd. fluid level is checked. The manual that came with the loader is usless on these to issues. Please help!!

Without seeing your loader, I can't tell you where that one will mount. It's based on where the bucket is level when the rod is either even with another rod it runs in, or when a bend in the rod is even with a certain spot on the rod. I don't know what type you have.

As for the hydro fluid, you check that in the same place you would have checked hydro fluid on your tractor, not on the loader.

If you have put hydro fluid in your tractor before (HST or for the hitch) that's where you check the loader still.

Post which tractor and loader you have, and maybe we can better help.

On my Mahindra and a few others I've seen, the rod mounts on the upper bucket pin, where the cylinder ram attaches. The tube is mounted to the base pin of that same cylinder at it's base end, up the loader arm. When new, I simply got the tractor on nice, flat ground and set the bucket level on the ground - visually. I then took a 3 corner file and cut a small groove all the way around the rod where it met the top of the tube and used some caution yellow paint and filled the groove - easily seen from the seat. 4 years and 1100 hours later the paint is gone, but no longer need it - you will learn your equipment by the time the paint is gone (hopefully !!).

Thank you John, now I really feel like an idiot....My small loader manual said to look at my tractor manual for information concerning the hydraulic system.
I didn't think that it was the same fluid thats in the tractor until you brought some daylight on the issue...My tractor is a MT1601D with the loader. The loader is a Allied model #95...I found a website for the loader and shot them a couple of emails, but the help you gave me will put me on the right track. I may email you again if you don't mind if I have any more questions...
Thanks again John ...

On many, the indicator is a kinked rod attached to a handy part of the bucket that moves when it's dumped or rolled back. The rod passes through an eyebolt or similar that is hooked to a U-bolt or muffler clamp like part. Set the tractor on flat ground, set the bucket to level (or whatever you prefer, actually), and move the eye bolt so the kink in the rod is in the eye. Tighten up, and you now can look to see if your bucket is level if you are on flat ground and the bucket is the same level as the tractor. It doesn't work when you lift or lower the bucket from that elevation. I suppose you could make your own rod or marking system for different heights.

Thank you Skipmarcy, for the direction on the leveling rod. I will take your info and see where it is suppose to mount. It's probably pretty obvious, but the tractor loader is new to me and guess I'm a little intimidated. I have a similar tractor....MT160D with no loader. I use is just for bush hogging my acreage out here. The tractor I just bought MT1600D with the loader is almost the same but has a stronger motor....I love tractors...and its a real pleasure to talk to you guys that have tractor savy....
Thanks again..

Hi Jer,
Welcome to TBN. When you get a chance, fill out your profile to give us a little more information about yourself and your equipment.

This is a picture of my FEL level rod. The tube or eye bolts are mounted to the FEL arm and the rod, which moves through the tube (in my case) which is attached to the bucket with brackets that allow it to pivot. So when you move the bucket, the rod slides through the tube or eye bolts to indcate the position of your bucket. When you drop the bucket down to the ground, level, mark your rod so you know where level is in relationship to the tube or eye bolt. Then, as said before, you'll get used to it.

Just to clarify for those who may not know that model number, we're talking about a Mitsubishi MT1601D right?

I don't use a level indicator as I found it was quite easy for me to figure out where level is without one. Just another thing that would probably get caught and bent if I were using it!!

Don't worry about being intimidated. Most people are until they learn how things work, and everyone much learn at some point.

Let us know how you're progressing.
