Guys, in need of some help here.

I want to install a horn and work lights on my tractor. I am VERY SET on it looking like a factory install as much as possible. I know the quick and dirty way is to just run to the local parts store and get a switch and put it in, but that ain't me. I want to find FACTORY switches off of some tractor to use for the horn and lights and need your guys help here. I don't care what brand tractor they come from.

Here's a pic of my L3800's dash and the space I have to work with, as well as what the factory switches look like.

I know that somewhere out there there are tractors that come factory with horn buttons and light switches, I just don't know what brand/model they are. If you guys could tell me any that you know of so I can go do the parts lookup and find the part # to order that would be awesome. If you can include a picture as well, that would be icing on the cake.

I was going down the road of using the Contura switches like shown below, but they are really only "good enough" and my second choice. They are just too big to suit me for the dash space I have available on the L3800.

I have found where someone else installed light switches from a Kubota L39 (part# 36919-54222) on their tractor. These will work, but I'd like to see other options as well.

Again, I don't care what brand / model tractor the switches come from, JD, NH, whatever, I just want FACTORY looking switches, I want it to look like it came that way.

Thanks

Hi cpstrand here, I went thru the same delima & got picked on really bad. I have a Massey Ferguson 1635 cab tractor, I found a horn switch thru Kubota on there large HP tractor line. It looks just like your hazard switch except it is black faced with a picture of a trumpet on it. I could not get the harness for the plug in on the back so I made my own. Switch has 4 terminals 2 for the horn & 2 for the lamp in it if you desire to connect that part of it. I don't have any pictures but the KUBOTA Part # is 3C583-75050 (switch, horn) I paid just under $40.00 last year at the local dealer. Hopes this helps. Phil

There are a lot of factory looking switches at Newark, Digikey, Mouser, etc. I have to admit though, that the paper catalogs are easier than the websites. These guys aren't anywhere near as easy as McMaster-Carr to search.

I had a problem finding switches as well. I wanted to have waterproof switches since my tractor doesn't have a cab. Not too many companies make waterproof switches that look like a factory install. I found some on ebay from a place in Britain. They don't look like the factory switches but I have them mounted by the seat behind the cruse control lever.

cpstrand, I had to power up the lamp circuit to see what it looked like. Black face has raised center like the hazard switch, that part lights up like my dash lamps yellowish/white. Raised part also has a trumpet imprinted on it in white. Phil

Well, after looking at TONS and TONS of pics of every recent Kubota model tractor I can, from Kubota's site as well as just doing a Google search on that model tractor and finding pics where people list them for sale on websites and have included a pic of the dash area, I've come up the following......

Switch, Horn 3C583-75050 - $38.56 at Messicks
- from an M9960 with cab
- is an exact match to the Hazard button on my tractor

Switch, Work Light - T1270-33782 - $31.83 at Messicks
- from a Grand L60 and M7040
- on the kubota webpage showing the Grand L60 Features, it describes this switch as "Front Side Lights" and you can see it says FS and has the light shining down on the ground and not straight out. I am going to install "rock lights" on my tractor, which will be under the floorboard and light the area of the ground between my tires so I can look down at night and see if my tires are about to drop into a hole or off the edge of a ditch, etc. This switch will work great for that.
- is an exact match to the Hazard button on my tractor

I am still working to find a light button that is an exact match to my Hazard. There HAS to be one, surely.....but I ain't found it yet. Closest I've found is the ones posted before, from an L45 / M59 and in the pic below. It's not an exact match to the Hazard button or the other buttons I've found, it has a little different styling. It will work if that's all I can find, but I REALLY want to find one that is the SAME as the others.

Switch, Work Light - 36919-54222 - $42.38 at Messicks

Well ****. Got a response from Kubota that they couldn't match the switch I am looking for to one that is offered on a Kubota tractor.

I've asked if they can tell me who the manufacturer is so I can purse that path, but I'd doubt they will tell me. I've got emails to Carling and Denso asking them about the switch as well, though I don't expect much different response.

If I can't find that switch, and looks like it ain't gonna happen, and I have to run with mis-matched switches, I'll probably just go with the Kubota horn switch mounted by the Hazard switch and then get the Carling switches to run the lights.

Also, I got an email back from Denso confirming that they make the switch but that they can't give out information on OE items and I'd have to get that through Kubota.

I just ended up placing an order for the Carling switches I posted before. Oh well.
