Need help identifying ford model/year and possible price

I have a buddy looking at buying an older used tractor. One his options is a ford 4000 or what is supposed to be a 4000. I thought it looked like an 861. Here is a photo

Serial number is hard to make out. Best we can tell it says 12023. It's diesel.

It has live pto with lever on left side to get it going. Has draft and position lever on right. Five speed transmission looks like this

It has dry brakes. it appears to be in good condition.

Any ideas which model and year? I have looked all over the net and cannot find good answer.

Finally if in good shape what's it worth? Thx

if it is a 4000 ( reread the model ID ) can check engine block casting to see if it is a 172 or 134 etc.. )

in nay case.. 55-64 fords generally go for 2500-3500$ depending on area and condition.

I like 5 speeds.

if you find a 5spd in a 000 4 cyl and it is the oe tranny.. it SHOULD be a dual clutch.. so yeah.. a 4000 4 cyl 5spd is like an 861 with different tins

make sure it has the new tin on the front and not for a round nose emblem.. or it's at least older tin.

them rear hubs say 4000 to me...
